A medical aesthetic treatment. Skin boosters are injectable hyaluronic acid products best administered by a qualified medical practitioner. This page is general information, not medical advice. Suitability, results and risks vary between people. Always consult a qualified practitioner and confirm current details with the provider before booking.
Zurich rewards the understated, and skin boosters are about as understated as aesthetic medicine gets.
Skin boosters are micro injections of stabilised hyaluronic acid placed across an area to hydrate the skin from within and, over a course, improve its quality, smoothness and glow. They are not wrinkle fillers and they do not add contour or volume. Brands such as Restylane Skinbooster are widely used, and the approach overlaps with regenerative treatments such as Profhilo and polynucleotides. Zurich is very well served for this kind of precise, discreet aesthetic medicine, with dermatology and plastic surgery practices clustered around the Bahnhofstrasse, the Paradeplatz and the Seefeld and Utoquai districts by the lake. The Swiss preference is for results that are clean and natural rather than obvious, which suits skin boosters well. The best injectors will assess your skin honestly, set out a realistic course and be clear that the benefit is a steady improvement in skin quality rather than a single dramatic change. A careful practitioner will also tell you when a filler, a resurfacing treatment or nothing at all would serve your goal better.
After a consultation, a series of small injections is placed across the treatment area with a very fine needle, often after numbing cream. Most people feel small pricks rather than real pain. A session usually takes around fifteen to thirty minutes.
Small raised bumps at the injection points are normal and usually settle within a day. There can be redness or the occasional bruise. Most people return to normal life straight away and avoid makeup and heavy exercise for the rest of the day.
A typical course is two or three sessions a few weeks apart, with the improvement building over the weeks that follow and a top up usually suggested every six to twelve months. Results are gradual and they vary from person to person.
Common and usually temporary effects include the small raised bumps at the injection points, redness, tenderness and the occasional bruise. As with any injection there is a small risk of infection, which is why a sterile technique and a qualified injector matter. Rarely, hyaluronic acid products can cause lumps, nodules or a delayed inflammatory reaction. Skin boosters are generally avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding and where there is a known allergy to the ingredients. It is worth being clear about what the treatment does. Skin boosters improve hydration and skin quality, but they will not fill a deep line, lift a sagging jaw or replace lost volume, and a practitioner who promises those results is overselling them. Results are never guaranteed and they are not permanent. A responsible injector assesses your suitability honestly and will tell you when another treatment, or none, is the better choice.

These figures are indicative ranges and not quotes. Zurich pricing sits at the higher end of Europe, and the injector's experience and judgement matter far more than the headline price. Be wary of unusually low prices, which can signal a counterfeit or diluted product. Confirm current prices with each practice.
